Rehabilitation and Employment Services

In Fiscal Year 2009, OCI provided services to 605 individuals.  OCI offers a wide range of services designed to assist individuals with disabilities and others with significant employment barriers to gain or regain the skills and the confidence they need to launch or resume a career. We believe in the intrinsic value of work, the respect and self-esteem it generates and we believe that, with the right supports, everyone who wants to is capable of working.

OCI has program sites in Dover and Wilmington. The majority of referrals to OCI are made through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Labor’s Office of Employment & Training, the Workforce Investment Board, the Division of Developmental Disabilities, and the Department of Mental Health.  OCI programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) & Delaware Department of Education.  Our Business Services are ISO - 9001 certified in assembly, packaging, fulfillment, and information procesessing.

Our programs are designed to help people prepare for, locate and retain jobs either in the community or as part of OCI’s business services or community contracts workforces. Through counseling, coaching, instruction and networking, OCI staff members assist consumers in finding stable, successful employment. In FY 2009, OCI assisted 55 individuals in securing employment.  Ongoing support services are available to help individuals stay on the job – or recognizing the importance of a good job match – assisting the individual to move on to a more suitable job.

We have seen the transformation that takes place when someone commits to determining their interests, developing their skills and putting in the hard work necessary to prepare themselves for employment. It brings joy, confidence and self-esteem in addition to the financial advantages. We want that for all people with disabilities. As a staff, we will work hard to help you make that happen for yourself!
